MANILA, Philippines — Classes were suspended in many parts of the country on Monday, November 11, due to Tropical Storm Nika (international name: Toraji).
Based on the state weather bureau’s 2 p.m. bulletin, nine Luzon areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 as Nika intensified on Sunday afternoon.
The tropical storm is forecast to reach the typhoon category within the next several hours.

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 135 kph, according to Pagasa.
